According to the Hadith a Muslim only has true faith if he loves Muhammad more than his father, children or any other person.
Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 13:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
“Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hands my life is, none of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father and his children.”
Al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 14:
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.”
Contrast this with what Jesus said:
Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me (Matthew 10:37-38).
A decision is to be made here. Whom should we love more than our parents or children? Who is more worthy of supreme love - Muhammad or Jesus?
When Jesus challenges me to take up my cross and follow him he is alluding to the fact that he himself would die on the cross for me as an expression of his love for me. His love for me is overwhelming! He is certainly most worthy of my supreme love? Is Muhammad and, if so, on what basis?
