In his book God, Freedom and Evil, Alvin Plantinga gives the following example of an explicit contradiction:

Paul is a good tennis player, and it is false that Paul is a good tennis player.

Technically, an explicit contradiction can be defined as “a conjunctive proposition, one conjunct of which is the denial or negation of the other conjunct” (12). The use of the conjunction “and” to join the two statements indicates the whole constitutes a conjunctive proposition and each statement is a conjunct.

Clearly, the claim by atheologists that the reality of evil contradicts God’s goodness, omnipotence and omniscience does not qualify as an explicit contradiction. If it is a contradiction it must therefore be a contradiction of another kind.
